Wiring Guide

Assemble the Arduino controller, plug in the gripper’s motor, and connect power. The gripper uses the same controller as the Simple Conveyor.

Connect CNC Shield

Connect the CNC Shield to the Arduino UNO.

Add Motor Driver

Add the A4988 or other compatible motor driver to the first slot on the CNC shield, and be sure to have the driver installed in the correct direction.

The driver has labels for each of the pins on its underside and the CNC shield has pin labels too. Line up the Enable (EN) pin on the driver with the Enable pin on the shield.

Connect Motor

Connect the gripper’s NEMA 17 motor to the CNC shield.

It doesn’t matter which way the motor is plugged in, as it only changes the direction the fingers move. If they close when they should open, either flip the cable or change the direction in software later on.

Connect Power

Using the barrel jack screw terminal adapter, wire the 12v power supply to the power terminal on the CNC shield: +V (12v) to the + terminal and -V (COM) to the – terminal.

Double check the polarity before plugging the power supply in.
